The Gardens will be closing at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, in preparation for our Live at The Gardens concert with The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Want to attend the show? Visit LCTix.com.
Students will ease into the art of contour line drawing by observing and sketching flowers brought into the classroom. This technique focuses on capturing the natural shape and flow of each subject, encouraging slow, mindful looking, almost like a quiet moment where time softens and attention deepens.
Once everyone feels comfortable, we'll wander out into the garden to draw flowers right where they grow. Artists can find their own cozy spot, spread out, and enjoy creating at their own pace. The instructor will be nearby for guidance and encouragement, while also sketching alongside the group.
To wrap up, we'll return to the studio to add bold finishing touches using materials like black dyed glue and ink. By the end, each artist will have a unique, finished piece—ready to be admired, shared, or even framed as a special keepsake.
Notes to Participants: Students can bring in a sketchbook if they have one, they like to do practice drawings in. But it is not required.
