  • Hundreds of free-flying butterflies of a dozen species of butterflies native to North America

  • 100 types of tropical plants chosen and maintained to serve as beautiful nectar and roost sites for butterflies

  • Chrysalis chamber viewing window

  • Living wall composed of tropical plants

  • Rotating annual and orchid displays

  • Live interpretation provided by staff and volunteers

Operated in partnership with the Butterfly Pavilion of Westminster, CO, the Butterfly House at the Gardens on Spring Creek boasts a rotating collection of hundreds of free-flying butterflies in addition to over 100 types of tropical plants. A true conservatory with tall ceilings and in-ground planting beds, the house provides ideal conditions for tropical plants to grow vigorously, creating a rich, jungle-like experience for visitors -- even in the depths of winter. Rotating displays of flowering orchids and annual flowers provide supplemental nectar in addition to plants growing in-ground and help to keep the house colorful during all seasons. At the west end of the Butterfly House, visitors can examine each week’s latest butterfly chrysalis shipment, pupating in a specialty made chrysalis viewing window before their emergence and release into the conservatory.
