The Prairie Garden is a serene, immersive, beautiful place of respite for the visitor with a look and feel that is naturalistic yet polished. Soft textures, expansive areas of color-coordinated bloom, and gentle but widespread movement are key features of the space. This ½ acre garden serves as a showcase for the increasingly popular meadow garden style and a trial space for new, underused, and promising plant material from grasslands of North America.
Central to the the visitor mission of the Prairie Garden is bringing wildlife closer to the visitor by creating quality habitat. The extensive and diverse bloom of the Prairie Garden native plants paired with wildlife-attuned management practices make this space a hotspot for all manner of wildlife on our grounds.
